Bitz Box to the Rescue

(It IS better to be lucky than good...)

You've heard me reference the copious amounts of random bits that I've acquired over time, and it paid dividends again today.  I knew I had a few dreadnaught bits in the lot that I'd bought, but I had no idea how useful they would be for my latest eBay rescue.

Lack of updates

(excuses, excuses)

I've been a little delinquent in posting updates to my projects over the last week.  Well, let's be honest, I've been delinquent about working on any of my projects for the last week and a half!  I'm sure the sad, miserable story of my life is of little concern, but more importantly, I'm back at work on my rebuild of the Land Raider Terminus Ultra.

Rogue Trader Land Raider - FINALLY

Well, I guess patience pays off.  After kicking around and finally getting the good deal on the Land Raider Terminus Ultra that I'm repairing, I kept looking for a Rogue Trader-era Land Raider.  Fortunately I managed to score one for about $40 after shipping.

Repairing the Land Raider Terminus Ultra pt 3

(Your Magnets and you...)

As I await my Crusader Upgrade kit to arrive, I spent some time rebuilding the weapon sponsons for the Lascannons.  Most of my brainpower was devoted to figuring out how to mount the twin-cannon sponsons without fabricating a new rotating mount.  A quick touch-up coat of black to cover the areas that weren't painted by the original builder and we were ready for the mounts.

Repairing the Land Raider Terminus Ultra pt 2

(Sometimes you have to break it to fix it)

Since I'm done gloating over my $37 eBay find, it is time to get down to work.

Pre-Heresy Predator pt 1

(or how NOT to save money on eBay)

In the process of getting a good deal on the bundle of Mk6 minis, I found the same seller had a Predator Destructor, with the Pre-Heresy Styling

The vehicle is in great condition, it just needs a suitable paint job, so perhaps I'll actually get around to "finishing" this one since it is almost done for me!

Repairing the Land Raider Terminus Ultra pt 1

(or "its just a simple fix")

So my latest "quick" project just arrived in the mail.  Quite a deal really, a Land Raider Terminus Ultra for $37, shipping included.  Of course the cheap price was due to the weapons being broken off of their mounts,  but that won't be too hard to fix.

Modular Rhino pt 1

(How long can it take to build one APC?)

In a vain effort to save myself some money, while giving my SM army a little flexibility, I decided to magnetize my Rhino frames and build them to be modular enough to serve as everything from a Vindicator, Predator, Razorback down to the lowly Rhino.  Come on, that should be easy, as almost every 40k player does that these days...

The Mk6 Armor Dilemma

(or why make life easy on yourself?)

Since the majority of my old minis are from the original Rogue Trader days, I have decided that I might as well stick with that look.  I mean, who wants an orphaned squad that doesn't blend in with the rest of the army, right??

Starting off

(Or how not to dust off a collection of minis 18 years later)

After not having played Warhammer 40k for nearly 18 years, for some strange reason I decided to get back into the hobby.  While removing my old miniatures from storage, I thought it might be good to grab some snapshots of what I had on hand, if for no other reason then to help me to make an "informed" decision before I purchased any new kit. (oh, how naive of me!)

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! So if you are wondering why a middle-aged aviation photographer starts a random blog to cover his Warhammer 40k addiction... well, it seemed like a good idea at the time!  Actually part of this stems from me growing tired of sending MMS messages and Facebook PMs with images of works-in-progress.  Plus, I figure that if I build a blog to track each of my projects, maybe, JUST maybe I'll grasp the enormity of how many I have in-process and scale back on my buying. (not likely!)  Anyway, I hope you learn something from viewing a few of my projects and if nothing else, maybe enjoy a laugh or two at my misfortune!
